A New Year

 Happy New Year!

Sometimes when we are preparing for a new adventure we get out all our old gear to assess its functionality and condition. I propose that we need to do the same thing when we cross over from one year to the next. It is important to see how things went last year, were we happy with the way things happened to us? When we make an honest assessment we might find that some of our understanding and responses don’t work the way that they used to. Maybe we need to make some changes. I always say that we are better together and studies show that when we interact with our communities we live healthier lives.

If you want to increase your HQ (health quotiant) this year find a way to become better connected. We have several on-going offerings available. Sunday mornings at 9:15 the choir meets to work on new material and you would be welcomed with open arms. I mean it, no matter if you are a singer or if you can read music, we would be happy to work with you to find a place for you with us. On Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. our Adult Bible Study meets. We are always interested in new ideas and questions about the Bible and the world around us. Ours is an interactive class that asks us to answer questions about different parts of our lives. On Wednesday mornings (except the second week of the month) at 8:00 a.m. Men from the church and some friends gather for breakfast and discussion. We have been reading and discussing books and are currently working on Searching for Sunday by Evens. This is a wonderful way to get connected and learn more about yourself and your spiritual journey.

Everyone needs to eat, so join us on the first and third Wednesday evenings at 5:15 p.m. for our feast and fellowship called Gather Round. Bruce offers an introduction to what he is working on for the coming Sunday and the table talk is always wonderful. If you are a sewer or crafter you will fit right in with our Sewing/Quilting group that meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. You can drop in anytime and find good light and plenty of room to work on your project. The fellowship is outstanding and we have fun when we get together. Make it a habit to check the church website calendar for the latest information. www.glenwoodspringsfpc.org. Facebook is another way to stay connected: https://www.facebook.com/1stpresbyterianchurch

These are just a few of our ongoing connecting times and activities. We would love to have you join us. If you have some ideas of ways that we can connect please speak to Bruce or a Session member so we can connect you with folks who like similar activities. Turn over a new leaf this new year, get engaged with our congregation and develop new relationships. It will do your body good.

Yours in Christ,

Bruce

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
